The Royal Spanish Academy - Real Academia Española (RAE) in Spanish -, is the institution that regulates the Spanish language. It was created in 1713 by Juan Manuel Fernández Pacheco and is represented by prestigious academicians. Many of them are writers. The RAE is also associated with academies of 21 Spanish speaking countries. The main task of the RAE is to protect the formal language, to promote the union of the language among countries in which Spanish is spoken, and finally to update the vocabulary.
The RAE also publishes different kinds of dictionaries and important essays about the Spanish language.
Many readers of my blog live in Washington, DC, Maryland or Northern Virginia, and learn Spanish or are interested in conversational Spanish or any Spanish classes or courses. I know some who take Spanish classes with native instructors. I believe that the more you do to learn the language - with Spanish lessons or without them-, the faster you’ll be able to communicate. You need a lot of practice! Whenever you have a doubt you can have a look at the dictionary at the top of this blog, left from my beautiful picture. For advanced students I suggest the Real Academia Española (their link is also left from my beautiful picture). For the best daily tips for Spanish students don’t miss visiting my blog www.learnspanishdc.com every day. ¡Hasta mañana! Andrés
